The first day of free agency yesterday resulted in a flurry of activity, including blockbuster trades, crazy rumors, and giant contracts. Although there are only a small number of unrestricted free agents on the market because of the uncapped year in the NFL making a number of unrestricted free agents into restricted free agents. This definitely wasn’t the Bears first, second, third, or even fourth choice, but one made out of necessity. Lovie Smith needs his offense to perform quickly if he wants to keep his job. The Chicago Bears have been looking for a new offensive coordinator since the end of the season to no avail.
